Las Gemelas Beach
Las Gemelas Beach (Playa Las Gemelas)
Las Gemelas beach (translated to Twin Beach), are two beaches, which are approximately 100 yards in length each, made well-known for their fine white sand, clear water and gentle waves.
You'll find a number of water activities to choose from on both such as; swimming, snorkeling and kayaking. You can also hike by climbing the rocks that divide both beaches while searching for crabs and other treasures. Of course you can also just relax and enjoy the sun under a palm tree.
Playas Gemelas are two of the nicest beaches of Vallarta.
This beach is one of the best kept secrets out there. It is a FAVORITE in the area. It has crystal blue clean water and the current is not strong so kids can play in the water or go off on flotation devices by themselves. The sand is white unlike much of Puerto Vallarta's beaches.
You will need a car to get there but it's not difficult to find. Just keep going south past downtown Puerto Vallarta and follow the signs for Mismaloya and then go past it. Before you get to the Intercontinental Hotel, there are steps that lead down to the public beach.
It is usually just locals enjoying this beach. There are a few guys that walk around selling mango, shrimp on a stick and some other bread...but not much so definitely bring your own food and drinks.
There is an EXCELLENT taco stand that you will pass on your way. It's right on top of the hill once you pass the Subway store. Definitely hit it and grab some tacos...they are really great and cheap and delicious!
There is plenty of parking on both sides of the street. Be careful on the stairway leading to the beach especially if you have kids.
This is a GREAT beach that is highly recommended. A somewhat secret favorite beach in PV.
